Smartronix Awarded Tactical Collaborative Work Suite Contract

California, Maryland - 15 November 2006 -
Smartronix recently announced that it has been working for nearly one year on the Marine Corps Tactical Collaborative Work Suite (TCWS), a Marine Corps Systems Command contract competitively won by Smartronix in December 2005. TCWS is a deployable, highly available, highly scalable, and redundant architecture supporting the collaboration and command and control (C2) requirements of the Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEFs). TCWS utilizes technology from VMware to provide a "virtualized" hosting platform for both commercial and Government "off-the-shelf" applications. Its physical components are comprised of servers, storage area network (SAN) arrays, and ancillary IT equipment in highly available configurations housed within hardened man-portable cases. The virtualized infrastructure supports Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, Active Directory 2003, SharePoint Portal Server, Exchange 2003, Internet Information Server, SQL Server, and CITRIX Presentation server; and provides a set of capabilities to simplify and standardize MEF information management and exchange. Displacement friendly, with no single-point-of-failure, TCWS provides built-in redundancy and can be used in limited bandwidth environments, while providing for adequate data storage, convergence, and mobility.
