EEDS™ - Expeditionary Encrypted Data Store
Smartronix, in partnership with industry leaders Decru, Inc. and Network Appliance, Inc., has developed a bundled solution for secure storage of data used in forward deployed military environments. The EEDS solution provides security against physical attacks by storing all “at rest” data in encrypted format. Locally managed encryption keys are required to retrieve data. In the event of imminent capture, warfighters can use the Decru CryptoShred™ feature to instantly delete local encryption keys by pushing a button or turning a key. FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification ensures data cannot be accessed once keys are destroyed. Information can later be retrieved through the use of backup encryption keys securely stored at an off-site location. NetApp provides data stability and integrity through SnapMirror™ software that enables automatic replication of data to ensure continuity of operations. Encrypted data is mirrored from one disk to the other so all replicated copies are secure by default. Smartronix Security Engineers integrate these industry-leading hardware and software solutions in a ruggedized and portable case. EEDS Small Store (SS) The EEDS SS offers portable and ruggedized data protection and SAN performance in a small 5U package. This configuration offers an affordable entry-level storage solution consisting of the NetApp™ FAS250, designed for small- and medium-size operations requiring NAS, iSCSI, or unified storage networks. The Decru™ DataFort E515 is included for FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified encryption of all stored data. Combined with power management and a rugged HARDIGG case, this solution provides best of breed performance in a very portable application.

EEDS Large Store (LS) The EEDS LS offers the same secure capabilities as the EEDS SS, with an upgrade in storage capacity and performance. Offering the NetApp™ FAS270c, this configuration provides up to 4 TB of storage space with built-in clustering. This mid-range system offers an entry-level Fibre Channel SAN solution while providing strong price/performance for NAS and iSCSI infrastructures. Also included with the EEDS LS configuration is the Decru™ DataFort E515, integrated power management, and a rack-mounted fan tray installed in a HARDIGG 9U case.
