California, MD – 02 November
2007 –
Smartronix, teamed with subcontractors SAIC, Booz Allen
Hamilton, and BAE Systems was awarded the Tactical Collaborative
Work Suite (TCWS) version 1.5 contract in support of Marine
Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) at Quantico, Virginia. The
initial award is for two standard suites, two fixed suites, and
two lite suites. The contract, with options of 45 additional
suites, is valued at $30M.
The contract fulfills the United States Marine Corps requirement
to unilaterally field an updated capability to TCWS 1.0 in the
format of standardized, web-enabled, deployable information
management suites with collaborative tools that provide readily
available information in common formats to deployed audiences.
Requirements included a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server
(MOSS) based solution built on top of a light-weight,
deployable, virtual platform supporting Marine Corps
forward-movement and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts of
employment and operations. Smartronix and its partners will
physically build, install, and integrate an updated baseline
solution including hardware, VMware, Microsoft Windows, Active
Directory, and SharePoint including IIS and SQL.
The initial award culminates with formal government testing in
March 2008 at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity
(MCTSSA) and full production is anticipated to conclude in
October 2008. Hardware integration will be performed at the
Smartronix corporate headquarters location and at BAE Systems,
both in California, Maryland. Systems engineering will be
performed at the Smartronix facility in Stafford, Virginia.
When asked about the significance of this award, Bob Shea,
Executive Vice President said "We are excited to have the
opportunity to build upon Smartronix’ successful completion of
the TCWS 1.0 contract and to have our domain knowledge and
expertise recognized by the Marine Corps Systems Command."
