Smartronix Recognized by ESGR as Outstanding Maryland Employer
California, Maryland – 13
November 2008 – Smartronix is proud to be among
approximately 50 Maryland employers that were recognized by the
Employer Support for Guard and Reserve (ESGR) organization for
outstanding support of their employees who are in the National
Guard and Reserve military services. The recognition luncheon on
November 13, 2008, is one of four regional ceremonies sponsored
each year by the Maryland Committee for Employer Support of the
Guard and Reserve, a volunteer agency of the Department of
Defense.
Smartronix VP, Brian Hurley, also signed a Statement of Support
at the luncheon. The Statement of Support confirms that the
corporation joins other employers nationwide in recognizing and
enforcing the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment
Rights Act (USERRA), pledges that its managers and supervisors
will have the tools they need to effectively manage Guard and
Reserve employees, and that it will continue to recognize and
support the nation’s service members and their families in
peace, in crises and in wartime.
"Today, supportive employers are critical to maintaining the
strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and
Reserve units," said ESGR Committee Chair Doetsch. He added
that many Maryland employers go "above and beyond" by providing
pay differential to offset the loss of wages and extension of
health care benefits to complement coverage provided by the
military when their employees are mobilized.
The mission of ESGR, which was established in 1972, is to gain
and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service
through recognition of outstanding support, increased awareness
of the law, and resolution of conflicts through mediation. ESGR
volunteers provide free education, consultation and, if
necessary, mediation.
