Information Services Team Award of the Year 2009
Hurlburt Field
Air Force Base, Florida – 15 December 2009 – For the
second consecutive year, the 1st Special Operations Medical
Group was awarded the Information Services Team Award of the
Year 2009. Smartronix employees, Nikki Brace, Jason Perry, and
Brandon White are members of the 500 person team accredited for
their efforts which led to receiving the distinguished award.
Also, The Hurlburt Field AFB team was one of the first U.S. Air
Force bases to implement Second Generation (2GEN) Wireless
allowing physicians and technicians to carry laptops from
offices to exam rooms contributing to complete electronic health
care records. Smartronix members also engineered the Medical
Group SharePoint site increasing training compliance by 50% and
making vital information available to medical staff members.
The award recognizes the outstanding achievement of all military
and civilian members of the Information Management Information
Technology (IMIT) team, and their contributions to both the U.S.
Air Force Medical Service and Medical Service Information
Systems. The award recognizes individuals and teams whose
outstanding actions improve the delivery of health care and
contribute to expeditionary medical operations for U.S. Air
Force personnel worldwide.
Brian Brown, Smartronix Vice President of Geospatial and Health
IT stated that "this Smartronix team exemplifies the focused
effort and expertise required to assure the mission of the U.S.
Air Force." The Hurlburt Field AFB team was competitively
selected from all IMIT personnel in the Air Force Special
Operations Command and has been submitted as a nominee at the
Air Force level which will be presented at the Healthcare
Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference,
Atlanta, Georgia in March of this year.
