SmartFISMA Paper Presented at Military Communications (MILCOM) 2008
Arlington, VA – 19 December –
In its 27th year, MILCOM is the premier international conference
for military communications, including government, military,
academia, and industry. The November 17 – 19, 2008 conference
gathers the brightest military and government communications
subject matter experts from around the globe to engage in
in-depth discussions about the latest in technology
advancements. This year, Smartronix’ VP for Marine Corps and
Navy Programs, Mr. Robert G. Baker, presented a technical paper
titled "SmartFISMA". SmartFISMA is a solution that combines
multiple security functions into an integrated, interoperable
whole. The goal of this project is to remove stovepipes between
security systems to ensure that U.S. Navy information systems
security encompasses configuration management, vulnerability
management and asset management as well as security compliance
testing and reporting. By tying multiple security solutions
together, U.S. Navy programs will be able to create and tailor
security workflows more effectively and build repeatable
security solutions.
When asked about the SmartFISMA solution, John Parris,
Smartronix’s CEO said, "This is a great example of how
Smartronix integrates leading commercial technologies into
unique security solutions to meet complex customer challenges.
It is a privilege to present this solution to the audience of
MILCOM." The combined security solution of SmartFISMA has been
deployed across the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and
ultimately, it will be used as an example throughout the U.S.
Navy and the Department of Defense (DoD) to illustrate the value
of integrating security management solutions.
