Smartronix Successfully Concludes TCWS 1.0 Contract
Quantico, Virginia – 20 June
2007 –
A Smartronix team of talented engineers and management
individuals are rapidly approaching a major milestone success
story by wrapping up the final critical details of a
multi-million dollar contract for the United States Marine Corps
(USMC).
The Tactical Collaborative Work Suite (TCWS) is a major system
integration and deployment task that the USMC says they "will
take to war". By leveraging virtual technologies, Smartronix,
in partnership with the Marine Corps Systems Command, created an
effective suite of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions
that minimize hardware requirements and maximize efficiency,
redundancy, storage and ease of management.
TCWS version 1.0 began its design, development and delivery
process in early 2006. Since that time each of the three Marine
Expeditionary Forces as well as several other Marine Forces has
received the systems. Created from an Urgent Needs Statement
submitted by the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (IMEF), TCWS
incorporates collaboration tools including Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, Active Directory, SharePoint
Portal Server, SQL Server, Exchange 2003, Outlook Web Access,
Internet Information Server, File and Print Services, CITRIX
Presentation Server, Symantec Antivirus and Backup Exec, and
Altiris Server Management all hosted within a VMware virtualized
infrastructure.
When asked about the TCWS system version update, Arthur
Bornschein, Program Manager said "We are proud of our ability to
meet and exceed the Marine Corps requirements during TCWS 1.0
and deliver a capability never before duplicated in USMC
garrison or deployed environments. We have the talent,
background experience and scalability to reproduce our current
success in future TCWS version updates."
