Challenge: To enable the Air Force CCE - EESOH-MIS cloud migration by rapidly developing the ability to deploy new analytics tools using DevSecOps and continuous integration capabilities to support the Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS). The EESOH-MIS program is a comprehensive web-based automated information system for the aggregation and collection of environmental data.

Solution: Smartronix migrated the EESOH-MIS from a Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) managed hosting service to a new commercial AWS GovCloud IL4 environment. This included completing the migration of Global Combat Support System (GCSS) Air Force applications to the AWS GovCloud environment which also included refactoring to leverage native cloud-based services and leveraging AWS automation capabilities. The team also performed configuring automation of DoD-hardened Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG'd) platforms and app configurations to promote standardization (with cyber security and reciprocity IAW approved RMF policy) supporting a 'continuous ATO' process and the concepts of reciprocity and inheritance, leveraging Global Content Delivery Service (GCDS) as a Security Service (including existing DoD assets deployed worldwide and integrated to support Distributed Denial Of Service (DDOS). Other technology capabilities included Virtual Datacenter Security Stack (VDSS), Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP), Identity and Access Management (IdAM), Single Sign-On (SSO) and performing application refactoring (including PaaS where applicable), containerization (where appropriate), utilizing a Docker-based National Security Agency (NSA) certified version of Linux, native cloud service utilization, and other industry best practices including support for DevOps.
